It is being billed as one of the worst storms in American history. They are trying to grab headlines, but it is extremely cold temperatures, which means that it is really really cold for Austin. So do what is right, save yourself from losing water or incurring damage to the property. Wrap and/or drip your outside pipes.
Today as the power grid is taxed, rolling blackouts are taking places all along Austin. People are unable to work and being sent home. Street lights are not operational. And those at home have 20 minutes with power and 45 minutes without power. Also, cable and internet are up and down.

The pipe on the West side of my house, as well as my Grandma’s house were frozen yesterday by %:00 P.M. The following tip below was used to get water running again.
Note: Only if it is early in a freeze and the pipes have already started to freeze, then take a rag and wet with warm water and place up in the nozzle of the frozen pipe. Also wrap the warm cloth around the pipe and underside of the pipe. If you are lucky, the water will start running again.
